A performative happening and community ritual for the solar New Year. In the early morning hours of New Year’s Eve 2006, two-thousand and six freshly baked, round loaves of bread are randomly delivered to 2006 doorsteps of Austin residents. Each loaf contains a secret message and an invitation to participate in the First Night Austin Grand Processional parade downtown, and in a tashlich (casting) ritual on the Ladybird Lake. Several hundred community members gather to march and cast.
Commissioned by First Night Austin.
